The nunchaku comes from Okinawa , today a part of Japan.
Many think that the nunchaku has descended from the rice flail (utzu), but this is incorrect.
The most credible version of the nunchaku origin is that the nunchaku descends from an Okinawan horse bit (muge). Initially the handles of the bit Later it was changed to the straight-handled weapon that we know today.
History suggests this farmers tool evolved into a deadly weapon by serving nobles who developed deadly nunchaku fighting skills. Since they were prohibited to carry any weapons, serving nobles would arm themselves with anything in reach. Two sticks connected by rope caught someone's eye. A warrior swung them, pictured himself bashing an opponents head - and nunchaku was born.
